Send your clothes out to sea

A while ago, while walking along my favorite beach in Bellingham, my housemate told me that our mutual friend Chloe sometimes anchored her clothing to the rocks and left them there to weather among the tides. After a couple days, they’d become infused with the character of the sea.

…what?

I found the idea beautiful and intriguing, but didn’t stop to follow up—until recently.

I had a canvas trucker jacket from Finisterre that I liked but didn’t often wear. It felt a little too stiff in the arms and looked a little too crisp for workwear (in my opinion), and I worried that those factors would keep me from ever actually breaking it in and solving those issues. A bit vain? Yes, but alas, that’s me.

In any case, this jacket felt like a perfect candidate for breaking in via the tidal tactic. I texted Chloe to request a tip or two.
