Today in my SCHLEPPING SERIES, I (Kellyn) will be going over my favorite crossbody/hip belt bags I have or have seen from the internet.
But first, piggybacking off of Hadley’s last letter, I want to add one more ski kit I just tested to her roundup last week.
This one was sent to me by my friends at Amundsen, which has become one of my favorite brands in this past year. It’s made of organic cotton which is frankly mind blowing for a technical waterproof fabric.
I think they are a really unique brand in that they have decades of heritage pieces and textile technology in their own archives to draw inspiration and designs from. They don’t make ‘em like the used to applies to a lot of brands out there, but not Amundsen. They literally do make ‘em like they used to because that’s kind of their whole thing.
Ok onward to part two of this little series all about bags. Like many a mountain woman (and man!), I’ve become a proponent of the crossbody bag in the past few years. Historically unable to carry a handbag due to either basically feeling like a fraud—a child in my mother’s heels— or truly wondering if I don’t have the anatomy for a traditional purse? Like how do you keep it on your shoulder?!

Lucky for us functional fashion lovers, crossbody bags are available in abundance these days and I’ve rounded up some good ones here. Including some fancier options and some especially genderless crossbody bags.

This new little number from DB Journey has caught my eye in a big way. There’s also a cool brown leather option. And the water bottle bungee is genius! Which reminds me that THIS water bottle from Kinto, and this even smaller one, is a perfect purse size.
côte&ciel is a French brand that I just adore. (A pricier one but there are often sales on End Clothing and ssense.) This one is a collab with cycling brand MAAP, and there are some other bangers in this collaboration.
